The Hansard Family
An ancient family from Normandy, who came over with William the Conqueror
The Hansards in 1881 were settled mainly around the Wash - Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire, but also Pembroke and Carmathen in Wales.

The old family which came over with William the Conqueror built a castle at Walworth. However, this left the family in 1539, and we know of no connection with our branch of the family.

Luke Hansard was the man who brought the family name to prominence as printer to the House of Commons. A deeply family and religious man, his autobiography has been published.
